Tongwei took the lead in global mono-Si and multi-Si cell shipments, having shipped more than 10 GW of mono PERC cells, according to InfoLink database.
Aiko Solar took the second spot, followed by Solar Space, Uniex, and Runergy. Looking at customs statistics, Aiko exported the highest volume of cells.
After last year’s excessive PERC cells capacity expansion, cell manufacturers will continue to install new cell lines, with 60 GW of additional cell capacity expected this year. Moreover, new capacity’s advantages of lower cost and ability to accommodate larger wafers will lead to an increasingly elimination of older capacity this year.
