Offshore wind developer Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Binh Thuan People’s Committee to develop an offshore wind project off Binh Thuan province.
The 3.5 GW La Gan project, with an estimated worth of up to US$10 billion, will be one of the largest offshore wind farms in Vietnam.
Led by CIP, the wind farm will be developed in collaboration with Vietnamese energy companies Asiapetro and Novasia.
The Vietnamese government is expected to submit its 8th National Power Development Plan (PDP VIII) by the end of October. CIP stated that the final investment decision will be made after the Binh Thuan project is included in the PDP VIII.
