Vestas was awarded the 50 MW contract supplying intertidal wind turbines for the second phase of the Dong Hai project, after it secured the first phase of the project.
With a combined capacity of 100 MW, the project in Bạc Liêu will be the largest intertidal wind farm in Vietnam to date.
This order marks the company’s seventh intertidal win in Vietnam. Over the past six months the company has secured six intertidal orders
With the Vietnamese government’s commitment to developing offshore wind power, major wind market players eager to gain foothold in Vietnam. In mid-July, Siemens Gamesa won an order for 75 MW Tan Thuan intertidal wind farm located in Cà Mau province, along with a 10-year contract to provide operation and maintenance services. This is the company’s fourth turbine order for intertidal wind farm in Vietnam.
Noticeably, the aforementioned intertidal wind farms are located in the potential areas for offshore wind development, which are included in the guideline released by the Vietnamese government in March.
